What are the main differences between Coaching and Therapy?

Psychotherapists Treat Mental Illness While Coaches Do Not:

One of the most important distinguishing factors between psychotherapists and coaches is that psychotherapists are trained to help people who are facing mental illnesses, and coaches are not.

If you are seeking help for a common mental health problem such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychotherapy is the way to go. Click here to go the the ICC Behavioral Health website, to set up an appointment with one of our psycotherapists.

Past vs. Future Orientation

Coaches tend to work with an eye in the future, while therapists work, in depth, with whatever has happened in their patient’s life before meeting them, in the past. That being said, our coaches are able to help you understand how the past contributes to your present, and our psychotherapists can help you set up goals for the future.
